Pennsylvania's John Wideman, who recently was selected as a Rhodes scholar, yesterday was chosen Ivy Basketball Player of the Week for his role in the Red and Blue's clutch victory over Princeton last Saturday.
Wideman scored 16 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and did an outstanding job defending against the Tigers' sophomore star Bill Bradley as his team scored a 65-62 triumph.
An All-Ivy second team selection last season, Wideman is an outstanding re-bounder despite his 6 ft., 1 in. height. He was co-captain of the Quakers a year ago and now holds the job in his own right.
