WILLIAMSTOWN, May 9--With the chance for its first Ivy League title all but gone the varsity lacrosse team took out its frustrations on an outmanned Williams ten here today. The Crimson routed the Ephmen, 13-4, in a dazzling display of offensive power.
Starting quickly the Crimson first stringers piled up a 5-0 first period lead. The attacking trio of Lon Williams, Grady Watts, and Woody Spruance, so effectively sniffed by Princeton Saturday, was back on the beam.
Lead 9-2 at Halftime
In the second period the Crimson added four more tallies to a pair for the Ephmen and led 9-2 at halftime. With second stringers playing a good part of the time Harvard scored four more goals in the last two periods to another pair for Williams.
Watts, the captain, rebounded from a bad day against Princeton and registered two goals and five assists. Williams scored three goals to raise his season total to 41 for 12 games.
Spruance, who has been having his troubles, scored two goals and an assist, as did midfielder Pete Wood. Wood was playing with a broken thumb suffered in practice this week.
First Midfield Stars
The first midfield, in addition to out-hustling the Ephmen on ground balls, all got into the scoring act. Tink Gunnoe had a goal and two assists, Pete Sieglaff two goals, and Joey Prahl one assist.
The win was the Crimson's ninth as against three loses. It will make its final home appearance of the year when it plays host to Dartmouth on the Business School Field Saturday.
