Paul J. Tillich, University Professor since 1954, will retire from the Faculty this June to take a position at the University of Chicago Divinity School. He will retain no official affiliation with Harvard.
The 76-year-old theologian will lecture on the history of Christian thought as the occupant of Chicago's new John Nuveen Visiting Professorship Chair for the 1962-63 academic year. Tillich then will become a senior professor of the University of Chicago Divinity School with an option to renew the post annually.
Tillich also plans to lecture at the Santa Barbara branch of the University of California in February and March, 1963.
