NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Harvard Yacht Club opens its spring season by participating in the Annual McMillan Cup Regatta, held at the Naval Academy. Two races are scheduled for Saturday on the Chesapeake Bay and one on Sunday.

Carter Ford and John K. Marshall will not as co-skippers, with Marshall in charge of foredeck operations. Also working on the Foredeck will be Ben and Mike Horn. Paul Lehmann will be navigator. Dan Poteet, Jann Weymouth and Dick Kohn will round out the crew.

Ten colleges will be participating--five from the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (Babson, Boston University, Coast Guard, Yale and Harvard and five from the Middle Atlantic ISA (Princeton, Columbia, Cornell, Navy, and R.P.I.).

Strong Nucleus

Last fall Harvard gained top New England honors by winning the Sloop Championship, the Team Racing Championships, the Big Three Championship, and two other major regattas.

With a nucleus of Ford, Marshall and Horn from last year's McMillan team which tied for first place with Navy, and a highly experienced big boat crew, the outlook for the weekend races is optimistic.

This event has been won in the past for Harvard by such well-knowns as George O'Day, gold-medal Olympic winner in the 5.5 class, and one John F. Kennedy, better known for his touch football prowess.

After the McMillan Cup members of the Yacht Club will return to Cambridge to work on the floats preparatory to starting spring operations with its new boats.
