Governor Volpe May Sign Office-on-Stilts Bill Monday

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Governor Volpe will probably sign into law Monday the bill authorizing sale of Cambridge Common land to private developer John Briston Sullivan. But speculation grew yesterday that the Governor may veto the bill after Volpe announced that he had received numerous telephone calls and letters opposing it.

If vetoed, the bill would return to the State Senate and House of Representatives, where a two-thirds vote would over-ride the veto. The only further obstacle facing Sullivan would be rezoning of the site by the Cambridge City Council to permit construction of the 15-story office building.
