To the Editors of The CRIMSON:

The article on the Harvard organizations combining to work for a Negro voter registration fund unfortunately has led many to believe that the Young Republicans, by declining to join the Civil Rights Coordinating Committee, opposed action in civil rights. Such was not the case.

The HYRC vote reported by the CRIMSON was over whether the club should cooperate with the Young Democrats and Liberal Union or should undertake independent civil rights action. They voted to do the latter. I felt they should do both; for that reason the Republican Advance for Equal Opportunity was set up.
