Crimson, Jayvee Football Squad Downs Dartmouth Eleven, 13-12

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Tim Casgar's running and passing sparked the junior varsity football team to a 13-12 victory over Dartmouth yesterday afternoon at Soldiers Field.

Dartmouth scored both touchdowns before the Crimson eleven pushed its first ever the Green goal line. Dartmouth's Larry Bailey carried the ball for the first TD after his team returned Harvard's kickoff for 57 yards. The Green's Paul Kraus attempted the two-point conversion run and was stopped by John Gray.

Second Dartmouth Touchdown

The second Dartmouth touchdown was scored after one of Casgar's passes was intercepted. The Green ran the ball to the Crimson nine yard line and Dana Kelly passed to William Wellstead in the end some making the score 12-0. The conversion play failed.

Harvard received the kickoff and combined 20 and 60 yard runs by Sal Fiscina and Barry O'Keefe to bring the ball to the Dartmouth five yard line. Ed Legg carried the ball to within one foot of the goal line and Casgar pushed it across for the touchdown. Brad Stephens kicked the extra point, and the score was 12-7, Dartmouth, at the half.

Casgar Scores Again

In the fourth quarter the Crimson held back Dartmouth and got the ball on its own 15 yard line. Harvard drove 56 yards and Casgar completed a 20-yard pass to Gray on Dartmouth's nine-yard line, and then carried the ball over the goal line on a quarterback sneak. The kick attempt was blocked. The final game score was Harvard 13, Dartmouth 12.

Harvard outrushed Dartmouth 253 yards to 244 yards, and Casgar, who threw all of Harvard's completed passes, succeeded in three out of seven tries for a total of 57 yards. Dartmouth completed two passes for a total of 35 yards.
