Yardling Eleven Wins Over Princeton, 20-8; J.V.'s Fall to Tigers

The freshman football team unveiled a newly-acquired serial attack Saturday as they overpowered Princeton, 20-3. The Yardlings completed 10 out of 15 pass attempts while exhibiting outstanding line strength to stall the Tiger attack throughout the game.

All three Crimson touchdowns resulted from the passing of freshman quarterback Hill Humenuk. Twice in the first period he hit pay-dirt to give the Yardlings a 14-0 lead.

The freshmen scored again early in the second quarter on a two-yard plunge by Bill Grana, again set up by a toss from Humenuk.

In the final period, a 50-yard completion was wasted as the Yardlings were stopped at the Princeton 16. Later in the quarter, the freshmen made up for this failure by holding the Tigers for four plays inside the Crimson six.

Tigers Stop J.V.'s

Meanwhile, the Junior Varsity was losing its contest to the Princeton J.V.'s, 16-6. Bad luck hit Harvard on the second play as starting quarterback Grady Watts was forced out of action with a wrenched knee.

The J.V.'s, spotty tackling could not stop the powerful Tiger running attack. Princeton scored twice on the ground and gained its final two points with a fourth-period safety.

The Crimson's lone touchdown came on a one-yard plunge by quarterback Chuck Kinney in the last minutes of the game.
