Weekend Includes Brawls, Thefts, Fire

It was quite a weekend, despite Saturday's game.

A Harvard student and a Yale undergraduate were jailed; a Fort Worth, Texas citizen up for the game had $1500 worth of personal belongings taken from his parked car; an MG roadster was stolen from the Eliot House parking lot; a fire broke out in Adams House; a girl attempted suicide in Leverett House; and Dunster House called on several old-guard alumni to push its fervent gung-ho revival.

Several townies invaded a large College rock-and-roll dance at the Odd Fellows Hall near Porter Square at midnight Saturday, the result of which was a lively brawl in which a group of Yalies and Harvard men became quite violent. The Yale student was arrested on charges of disturbance of the peace and assault and battery; the Harvard man just disturbed the peace. They were out on bail Sunday. Four people were taken to Stillman or the Cambridge City Hospital for treatment.

Sometime late Saturday night near the Brattle Theatre a burgiar broke into the parked our of John M. Hogg by forcing open the right front vent window. Two suitcases were stolen. In one of the suitcases were a platinum pin with 20 diamonds in it, and a platinum wedding ring. Two other cars in the Harvard Square area were burglarized in a similar manner.

A 1959 blue-green MG Roadster valued at $1900 was stolen from the Eliot House parking lot between 9 and 9:15 Saturday night.

Adams H-41 was the scene of a fire which broke out Saturday afternoon while the residents of the rooms were at the game. Two fire trucks arrived at the scene at 3 o'clock. A misplaced lit cigarette at a luncheon in the room before the game was believed to be the cause of the fire. Estimated damage is $150.

In a Leverett House bathroom Saturday, a 20-year-old New York girl lacerated both of her wrists with a razor blade. Shortly after she was taken to the hospital for treatment. She returned to New York early Sunday morning.
