Two Scores by Sweeney Spark 3-2 Win Over B.U. Soccer Team

The varsity soccer team came back from a sloppy first half and easily defeated B.U., 3 to 2, yesterday on the Business School Field. Inside Tadhg Sweeney led the Crimson's second-half surge with two goals.

At 3:35 of the third period, Seamus Malin kicked the ball out of a mass of players near midfield. Just as Terrier goalie Stu Langton was about to field the ball, Sweeney deflected it past him into the nets.

After 3:18 of the fourth quarter, left wing Mike Kramer dribbled down the left sideline and got by two Terriers before passing to Sweeney. The big inside waited until the defenders committed themselves and then calmly blasted the ball on a low line past Langton.

Kramer, who probably earned a starting position against Yale with his play yesterday, picked up his second assist with a long lead pass to Malin. Malin ran down the ball, evaded most of the B.U. backfield, and scored at 7:20.

Center half Tony Davies notched the fourth goal of the game at 14:40 by dribbling through several defenders and launching a shot that Langton reached an instant too late. For a time it seemed that Langton had stopped Davies' attempt, so inside Mike Hare scored the goal again. The referees decreed that Davies' tally counted.

In the final minutes, Crimson coach Bruce Munro emptied the bench. Items of interest were a miss from point-blank range by center forward Al Chang and inside Chris Martin's nearly implemented plan to take on the entire Terrier eleven.
