Lacrosse Team to Play Eli Squad, Try for First Ivy League Victory

The varsity lacrosse team has yet to kill any giants since its victory over Hofstra on the spring trip. Tomorrow's Yale game, at 3 p.m. on the Business School Field, will give the Crimson its last chance to score an upset, and at the same time to win its first Ivy League game.

For the varsity, it has been a season of dashed hopes. Each time the Crimson has seemed capable of sustaining the high level of lacrosse indicated by early season performances, something has invariably gone wrong. Rarely have the attack, midfield, and defense all played well at the same time.

But the Elis have also had an on-and-off season. Hampered by injuries, the team looked good in early season games, but mediocre in its past few contests.

Both squads have suffered decisive defeats to Princeton in the past two weeks. The Tigers trounced the varsity 20 to 3 at Princeton two weeks ago, turning every Crimson mistake into a goal. Last Saturday, they topped Yale 14 to 9 despite 14 penalties called on Tiger stickmen.

The Yale game will give Crimson attackman Dave Bohn his last chance to add to his scoring mark, now well over last year's standard. Bohn, whose goals usually come in clusters, has thrust in 31 tallies so far this season. Jerry Pyle, the vasrity captain, is second with 10 goals, while Nick Lamont has scored 6 times. Lamont also leads the team in assists with 10.

Lamont, Pyle, Bohn to Start

Lmont, Pyle, and Bohn will start against the Elis at attack, with Andy Leaf alternating throughout the game. Excepting the Tufts contest, when the Crimson built up an early lead, Pyle, Lamont, Bohn, and Leaf have been the only varsity attacks to see action.

Starting at midfield will be Dick Parks, Tadhg Sweeney, and Charlie Devens, while Lanny Keyes, Bron Thayer, and Mike Adair will probably open at defense. Chris Stone will tend his last game for the Crimson in the nets.
