J.V. Baseball Team to Meet B.U.

The Junior Varsity baseball team will go after another win today as they play the B.U. Freshmen on the Varsity field. Bill Cunningham will pitch his first game of the year, and either Pete Tague or Stu Forbes will be behind the plate.

Lack of depth may be a hinderance to the J.V.'s this year, especially in the pitching departments, as there are only three pitchers. Bill Cunningham pitched last year for the J.V.'s and Dave Larkin struck out 17 men Wednesday against Brandeis. Bob Stein is the third member of the pitching staff, but it is difficult to make any prediction about him yet.

The club does not have long-ball hitters, and it will have to depend on several players who have a high average because of singles. Bob Forbush, the left fielder, had a batting average in the 300's last year. Bill Rodgers, at shortstop, and Dick Shima, the centerfielder, are also expected to hit well.

Alec Bell, who was end coach of the Varsity football squad this fall, will coach the J.V.'s for the second time. Assisting him wil be Bob Hastings, the Varsity shortstop two years ago. Hastings played baseball at Harvard for three years, and was All-American in his Senior year. This is his first year coaching the J.V.'s.
