PROVIDENCE, R.I., March 3--The Boston Celtics continued their mastery over Minneapolis with a second half comeback for a 119-112 victory tonight as the Lakers' Vern Mikkelsen became the seventh players in National Basketball Assn. history to reach the 10,000-point mark.
The Celtics rallied from a 14-point deficit in the first half to narrow the gap to 59-58 at the intermission.
After the Lakers boosted the count to 65-60 in the third period, Boston clicked for 13 straight points to pull away for good and set a new team record of 50 victories in a season.
Bruins Tie Red Wings
DETROIT, March 3--Johnny Bucyk climaxed an uphill Boston battle with a goal early in the third period and provided the Bruins with a 2-2 National Hockey League tie with the Detroit Red Wings tonight.
Boston regained third place in the National Hockey League, one point ahead of the New York Rangers.
