PBH to Combine With Red Cross In Try for Record Blood Drive

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University will add nearly 200 gallons of blood to the Cambridge Red Cross's supply this week if 1462 students, faculty members, and officials who have registered as donors fulfill their commitments.

According to Frederick B. Bird '60, co-chairman of the PBH Drives Committee, this year's campaign is likely to be the most successful since 1950. Last fall, barely 1000 people signed up to donate blood, and little more than 800 actually gave. Bird estimates, however, that only about ten per cent of this year's registrants will fail to give.

Among those scheduled for donations are President Pusey and several other prominent University officials. But in spite of the record number of faculty members who have registered to donate, precedent indicates that the faculty will still use more blood in the next year than they give this week.
