Harvard Favored Over Indians; Tigers Expected to Top Cornell

Pennsylvania and Yale have emerged as the surprise powers of the Ivy League this season after winning three straight League games. The Quakers and the Bulldogs both play non-Ivy opponents this weekend, and will stay tied for first place with at least a one-game lead, regardles of what happens to the other eight teams.

Steve Sebo's high-flying Quakers will face a strong Navy eleven in a toss-up at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. At New Haven, the Yalies, biggest surprise in the League, play host to winless Colgate. Yale is a definite favorite to take its fifth win of the year and may even hold Colgate scoreless.

But the Crimson cannot be as confident, for its game with Dartmouth could go either way. The Indians have plenty of motivation to win: they are still without a victory, they have yet to score in a League game, and they were humiliated, 16 to 8, by Harvard in 1958. The Indians, though overrated, are not a weak team.

John Yovicsin's eleven, then, will have its hands full and must avoid a lull like the one in its not-overly-impressive win over Columbia last week. Look for a home victory, but be prepared for a possible Dartmouth upset.

Princeton Meets Cornell

The other two teams that are grouped with the Crimson in the middle of the League, each with a win and a loss, clash at Princeton. The Nassau eleven will be a slight favorite against Cornell, which should, however, bounce back strongly.

Thus, there are only two Ivy games this Saturday afternoon. Brown and Columbia have extra-curricular activities at home. While the Bruins are a favorite to gain what may be their only win of the year--the R.I. State Championship--Columbia stands little chance to wrest a win from Holy Cross.
