Hyder E. Rollins, successor to George Lyman Kittredge as Gurney Professor of English Literature, died last Friday in Cambridge. He was 69 years old.
A teacher of many scholars and a leading authority on John Keats, Rollins completed his monumental edition of "The Letters of John Keats" just before his death. In addition to his work on the early Romantic poets, Rollins was also an authority on the ballads of the Elizabethan period.
Economist Killed
Stefan Valavanis, assistant professor of Economics and an authority on the application of mathematical analysis to economic problems, died last week. He was 31 years old.
Valavanis, who was vacationing in Greece at the time of his death, was found shot in his tent near Mt. Olympus. It was reported that Valavanis was killed by an officer who had deserted from the Greek army.
