A group of local students in the Summer School are setting up a summer drama group, and will soon present a production of Jean Anouilh's Antigone.
Calling itself the Harvard Summer Theatre Group, the organization is headed by Robert Hesse '59, producer. It will give "an original adaptation" of the English version of Anouilh's statement of Sophocles's tragedy.
The play will star Nadine Duwez of Wellesley, who starred in a production of the drama there this year. Other starring roles will be played by Earle Edgerton '56 as the Chorus, and Elias Kulukundis '59 as Creon. Also in the cast are Sid Davis, Edgar Walsh '59, Owen Quattlebaum, Mary Kass, and Ruth Roberts.
Anouilh's work will be presented July 24, 25, and 26 in the Christ Church auditorium. Those interested in aiding with technical or clerical, aspects of the production are asked to call John Friedman '60, business manager, at TRowbridge 60327.
The organization hopes to follow this production with a presentation of Jean-Paul Sartre's No Exit.
A similar group last summer produced some scenes from Shakespeare. A number of Harvard undergraduates had planned this spring to produce weekly plays at the Pi Eta Theatre, but had to cancel their plan because it was "financially infeasible."
