Lacrosse Team Will Face Tufts

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

With a wary eye cast over his shoulder at the M.I.T. loss two weeks ago, varsity lacrosse coach Bruce Munro claimed yesterday that "strange things can happen." Unless things are very strange indeed, however, the Crimson will defeat a rather weak Tufts varsity this afternoon.

Munro seems to be running on a treadmill as far as injuries are concerned. No sooner had defenseman John Baldwin and midfielder Jerry Cotter returned to the lineup than first midfield stalwart Dick Parks suffered a broken toe and spiked shin, and defenseman Lanny Keyes was sidelined with a pulled hamstring muscle.

In addition to the latter two, Tag Edwards, Karl Bjork, and Jim Tulenko still remain absent from the lineup, to further cloud the midfield situation. Attackman Dub Mallonee has been suffering from a knee injury and remains a question-mark.

Goalie Dick MacKinnon will be supported by defensemen Jim Herscot, Bob Shaunessy and either Baldwin or Dan Leary. The attack will be Jerry Pyle, Nick Lamont and either Mallonee or Andy Leaf.

Munro's midfield picture was still hazy by last night, a lot depending on who is able to play today. As it stands now, the first midfield will be Dave Birch, Charlie Devens and Jerry Cotter or Tag Edwards, if either is able to play. The second midfield is fairly well set, with Manuel Cabral, Larry Connell and Mike Rockefeller. On the third line will be John Gould, Bob Hurlbut and either Cutter or Edwards.
