Lacrosse Team Faces Williams

A minor emigration of star lacrosse players from Baltimore, Md., to Williams-town, Mass., during the past two years will make Crimson victories in either the varsity or freshmen contests this afternoon a very unlikely possibility. The varsity is making the journey westward with its ranks so depleted that four starters will remain in Cambridge.

The defense is particularly injury-ridden. Captain Jim Herscot, with a badly sprained hand, and Lanny Keyes, who re-pulled a hamstring muscle, may not even be ready for the Yale contest Saturday.

First midfielders Dick Parks and Karl Bjork are also lost to the team. Parks may be back by Saturday, but Bjork is definitely out for the season.

Dub Mallonee, Nick Lamont and Jerry Pyle will comprise the main attack, with Andy Leaf and Fran Loewald along for support. The first midfield is tentatively set at Dave Birch, Jerry Cotter and Charlie Devens.

Without Herscot and Keyes, the defense of John Baldwin, Ed Tarlov and Bob Shaunessy can hardly be expected to shackle an attack which last year scored 26 goals against a good freshman team.
