With every player shooting 80 or under on the rain-soaked Charles River Golf Course, the Crimson golf team defeated Holy Cross yesterday, 5 to 2. The Crusaders came very close to beating a strong Yale team at New Haven last week.

Captain Warren Iliff, who was moved up to number two yesterday, shot 78 and won, 2-1. Iliff was three down with seven holes to go and won six in a row. Playing third, Bob Grundeman defeated his Holy Cross opponent, 6-4, shooting a 78. Grundeman had a two under par 34 on the back nine.
Dave Beady won his match with Weston Country Club Champion Jim Fay, 3-2. Frank Dodge, playing his best golf so far this season, shot a very good 76, winning 5-4. In number six, Bill Rose lost a very close match, one down. Bottom man Bob David won, 4-2.
The Crimson will go into the Easterns with nine players who have been shooting 80 or under all season, with seven in the low seventies. The Easterns will be a seven-man tourney this year, allowing the team to take advantage of its depth.
The varsity plays it next match this afternoon against Wesleyan, the strongest of the small college teams, which has defeated both Boston College and Brown. Today's lineup will be: Briggs, Grundeman, Beady, David, Rose, Tyler, and Winthrop House senior North Wood.
