Yarding Teams Will Meet Bullpups; Hockey, Wrestling Evenly Matched

The freshman swimming team will face an undefeated and heavily favored Yale squad at New Haven today. Though the Yardlings have won nine meets and have suffered only a one point loss to Dartmouth, Coach William Brooks foresees little or no hope for victory against the powerhouse Bullpups.

Freestyler Bruce Hunter, who has won all his races for the Crimson this season, will enter the 50, the 100, and the relay. Breaststroker Bill Shelstead also risks an undefeated record.

The Yardlings' strongest hope for a first is probably in the diving events, where Bert Messenbaugh and Eric Johnson will compete for the Crimson.

Yale rates a slight favorite over the Yardling wrestling squad in today's match. Both teams sport undefeated records, though the Crimson has been tied by Springfield.

The Yardlings have an excellent chance to win and thus cop the unofficial Ivy title, said coach John Lee yesterday, if they take a commanding lead in the first six events.

Crimson captain Sam Huntington at 157 and undefeated Pete Stanley at 167, who has pinned all but one of his opponents, are favored to win their matches. Yardling hopes also rest on Hal Pouser at 123, Carl Kludt at 130, and Nick Estabrook at 149.

The Freshman hockey team clashes with Yale on the Watson Rink this afternoon at 2:15 p.m. Coach Nat Harris expects a close contest.

The Yardlings go into the game with a 15-6 over-all record. In Ivy competition, the Crimson has beaten Brown twice and Princeton and Dartmouth once, having lost to the Green at Hanover in overtime.

Tending the Crimson goal will be Bill Henderson. Captain Bob Anderson and John Eaton will play defense, with Stu Forbes at center. At wings will be Crocker Snow and the Yardlings' high scorer Neal Johnson.

The Freshmen are seeking their seventh consecutive victory over Yale, not having lost to the Blue since 1951.
