Four Young Democratic college groups have joined the HYDC in supporting Paul M. Butler, national chairman of the Democratic Party for re-election.

Fred M. Leventhal '60, president of the Harvard Young Democrats, announced yesterday that organizations from the Universities of Southern California, Texas, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin have signed a telegram written by the HYDC endorsing Butler.

The resolution was approved unanimously by the Executive Committee of the Young Democratic Club last month. The statement, introduced by Jay Leary '60, describes the efforts of the present National Chairman as "diligent and devoted...in raising the influence and prestige of the National Committee to unprecedented heights."

It further states that "it is clearly in the best interests of the national Democratic Party to retain Mr. Butler's services as National Chairman."

Leventhal said last night that he personally believed Butler would succeed himself as chairman.
