Varsity cross-country captain Dyke Benjamin finished 31st in the IC4A cross-country championships at Van Cortlandt Park, New York, yesterday, with a time of 25 min., 48 sec. However, as a unit the Crimson was not qualified for a team finish position, as only four varsity runners entered the race instead of the usual five required for a full team score.

The meet was won by Michigan State's Crawford Kennedy, who took first place for the second straight year with a winning time of 24 min., 21 sec. Kennedy, whose elder brother won the race two years ago, led the Spartans to their third consecutive team victory, and sixth in the past 11 years.

In absorbing his first defeat of the season, Benjamin ran approximately 36 seconds slower than when he won the Heptagonals on the same course a week ago.

For the Crimson, Jed Fitzgerald finished 57th, in 27 min., 18 sec., while Mac Brown placed 73rd, in 26 min., 31 sec. and Ed Martin came in 85th, in 26 min., 44 sec.
