Jeremiah Ford '94, Smith Professor Emeritus of the French and Spanish Languages, died yesterday.
An internationally-known scholar, Ford attained the Smith professorship in 1907 and held it until his retirement in 1953.
Ford began teaching as an instructor in French and Italian at Harvard in 1895.
He served abroad as Harvard exchange professor to the University of Paris and as director of the American University Union in Paris in 1925.
