An undefeated freshman football team will face Cheshire Academy today at noon on the freshman field.
The Yardlings have outscored their opponents 49 to 6 in their last three games and now hope to extend their winning streak to four. Several new plays were instituted for today's game, with passing emphasized more than in the beginning of the season.
The freshman lineup will be: left end, Bob Boyda; right end, Bob Mautz; left tackle, Carl Sheridan; right tackle, Darwin Wile; left guard, Tom Gaston; right guard, Bill Swinford; center, Ed Watters; left halfback, Roy Williams; right halfback, John Damis; quarterback, Grady Watts; fullback, Gil Bamford.
The junior varsity, with a 2-0 record, will challenge an unscouted Pennsylvania JV. Both teams use the identical plays as their varsity teams, so the Crimson will have to face the unbalanced T.
The Crimson JV won its first victory in three years when it defeated Tufts 7 to 6 this year. Its 7-0 victory over Dartmouth marked the first time since '55 that the JV team defeated another Ivy League team. This win also marked the first time the team was able to score two successive victories since it beat Yale its last game in '54, then won the first game of the '55 season.
The starting JV lineup will be: left end, Dick Aadallen; right end, Jerry Sullivan; left tackle, Roger Hallowell; right tackle, Bill Greelish; left guard, Bill Hurley; right guard, Jerry Weidler; center, Jon Christensen; quarterback, Ted Marmor; left halfback, Charlie Leamy; fullback, Jim Nelson; right halfback, Bob Dean.
