Even 'Cliffies will be welcome this evening at 7:30 when THE CRIMSON holds its first fall candidate meeting. Drinking free beer to the music of the AP tickertape, all those interested may talk to the editors, inspect the paper's independent printing facilities, and if they like, start competing for the Fourth Estate.
Many positions are open on all the boards, and this fall's competition will be unusually short. As Cambridge's only daily, The CRIMSON's coverage of news and sports gives New Board candidates opportunities for interviews, writing and reporting. Similarly, the Photo Board welcomes all cameramen interested in free equipment, valuable training and publication.
The Merchant Class also plays a part in producing what Harpers calls this "superbly turned out undergraduate newspaper." Competing on the Business Board in the tough world of advertising and circulation wars, candidates will become familiar with the kickback, the protection game, and the exploitation of personal relationships.
The Editorial Board demands only that its candidates be versatile, opinionated and articulate. From its influential columns you can subtly manipulate the opinions of the paper's 10,000 readers, while, unsuspecting, they eat their cold cereal. Nor is this all, for when the Editorial Board frowns theatres close, statesmen tumble, and deans resign.
Why let the Power Elite pass you by? Come to 14 Plympton Street this evening and get in on the ground floor.
