Republicans Found Area Council, Elect Muntzing as First Chairman

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Presidents of the Young Republican Clubs in the Boston area have formed a Greater Boston College Republican Coordinating Council, omitting the newly chartered Harvard Eisenhower Young Republican Club.

Manning Muntzing, president of the Law School Republican Club, was elected chairman of the group at its first meeting yesterday. Other presidents attending were from Boston University, MIT, Radcliffe, Wellesley, and the Harvard Young Republican Clubs.

Noting that members of the HEYRC was aware of the formation of the Council, Muntzing commented that their omission was not an exclusion. He said that the Law School group and the other Republican clubs in the vicinity felt the HYRC should be included "since it is older and more representative of the College."

Eliot M. Bernat '60, president of the HEYRC, was unavailable for comment last night. David F. Peterson '59, president of the HYRC, said that he had no part in causing the omission, and that it "resulted naturally from the wishes of the other clubs."

Peterson said, "Bernat was present at the meeting when we discussed our participation in the regional council."
