Irad Benjamin Hardy '33, Chief of Surgery at Waltham Hospital, has been named Chief Marshal to lead the alumni at Commencement on June 12. The selection of Dr. Hardy was announced yesterday by Herman D. Smith '21, President of the Harvard Alumni Association.
Traditionally, the Chief Marshal is chosen from the 25th year class. Dr. Hardy is vice-Chairman of the 25th Reunion Committee for the class of 1933, and will join his classmates in their reunion to be held in the Yard immediately following Commencement.
In addition to his position at Waltham Hospital, Dr. Hardy is Assistant in Surgery at the Medical School, where he received his M.D. degree in 1938.
In his college years Dr. Hardy was a member of the varsity football team, and Third Marshal of the Senior Class.
