Denied Winter Campus Housing, International Students Scramble to Find Alternative Options
At least one Harvard policeman and more than 250 students plan to attend the annual Dartmouth Winter Carnival at Hanover, N.H., this weekend.
The policeman will be part of a joint force, with members recruited from a large number of schools, established at the request of the Dartmouth administration. This is the first time a member of the University police force has traveled to the Carnival.
The Carnival centers around the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association meet. Fraternities and houses will stage "snow statue" contests and hold parties and dances. An Ice show "Outdoor Evening", is planned for Friday night, when a Carnival Queen will be chosen from among 45 selected girls.
During the affair, Hanover will also be crowded with 2000 Dartmouth dates, 2500 daily visitors, numerous college students invited by Dartmouth friends, and the press.
