Despite a poor effort in the foil and epee, the Crimson varsity "A" fencing team managed to defeat Trinity College, 17 to 10, in its first appearance Saturday. The freshman squad lost its opening bout with Hopkins Grammar by an identical score.

Only in the sabre division, with a 7-2 margin, did the varsity match its expected performance. Doug Runnells led the team wth three wins, and Dave Silbert and Mitchell Thomas won two of three.
