New Cercle Francais Groups Will Practice Acting French Drama

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Cercle Francais is forming a theatre workshop group as a result of the unexpectedly large response to the casting of its forthcoming production of "Phedre."

"We got the actors for "Phedre," said the play's director, Edward P. Morris, assistant professor of Romance Languages and Literature, "but it wasn't easy. There were lots of good French speakers, but most had no concept of acting in French."

The club intends to form groups of six or seven for practice in French drama from the forty who have expressed interest.

Five French instructors who, according to Morris, are "very enthusiastic about the project," will lead the groups. "We hope this will be one of the rare occasions when we can work together without the usual formal relationship between students and faculty," Morris said.
