Holborn Chosen Legislative Aide To Sen. Kennedy

Massachusetts Senator John F. Kennedy '40, a leading candidate for the Democratic Presidential nomination in 1960, has appointed a University government instructor as his Legislative Assistant, the Senator's office announced yesterday.

Frederick L. Holborn '49, who has worked for Kennedy intermittently since 1952, will assume his permanent position as one of the Senator's three top aides during the spring term. Holborn currently assists in Government 157.

Associated with Kennedy primarily in the foreign policy field, Holborn reputedly was instrumental in preparing the famed "Algeria Speech," which caused so much furor in mid-summer. He worked full-time during the summer in the Senator's office, assisting also with conservation matters.

As a Legislative Assistant, Holborn will again focus most of his attention on the foreign policy and conservation areas, but will also share part of regular office burden, such as helping with committee work and correspondence, handling constituents, and dealing with the Press.
