NEW HAVEN, Conn., Sept. 25--A television repairman, who said he was an FBI undercover man in the Connecticut Communist party from 1947 to 1950 said today there was a cell of from 15 to 20 Yale students during that period.
Harold Mosher, about 30, of nearby Hamden, whose father also worked undercover for the FBI in the party, told a subcommittee of the House committee on un-American activities he knew of the Yale group when he was in the youth branch of the party.
Asked by committee counsel Richard Arens if he knew of a Communist cell or "faction" at the University of Connecticut, he replied "I believe there was." He said the Yale cell was made up entirely of students, and was part of the youth branch of the party.
Mosher stressed that he was testifying only on what he knew before disassociating himself from the Communist party in 1950.
