Democratic Club Starts Program

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Harvard Summer School Democrats organized themselves this week and planned a program to attract both "active participators" and "interested observers" into the political life of the Summer School.

The active aspect of the program will center on volunteer participation in the Jackson Holtz Congressional campaign in Massachusetts' 10th district. The main goal of the Democratic volunteers is to collect enough signatures to put Holtz's name on the ballot in the September primary.

For the interested observers, there will be weekly dinner meetings at the Union to discuss current political topics. The first one will be held Tuesday, July 24, at 6 p.m.

The slate of officers named at the Democratic meeting Monday include: Harvey Freed, Chairman; Mimi Gamulka, Co-ordinator; and Charlotte Newman, Secretary.

Summer students interested in participating in the Democratic volunteer program should call Charlotte Newman at Eliot 4-1001 or Mary Solow at Trowbridge 6-5764, or they should meet at the Harvard Union tonight at 6 p.m. to begin the signature drive.
