Chapman Becomes Associate Professor

The University's outstanding expert on the practical theatre--Robert H. Chapman, assistant professor of English--has been promoted to associate professor, it was announced today.

Chapman, who is expected to have a great deal of responsibility in the organization of Harvard drama, is the co-author of "Billy Budd," a drama based on a story by Herman Melville, which appeared on Broadway a few years ago. L.O. Coxe was the other author.

At the same time, it was announced that John M. Bullitt '43, assistant professor of English, has also been made an associate.
