Officials May Probe Hazing in Colleges

A special committee will investigate hazing and initiation practices in colleges, according to a resolve filed at the State House by Representative Edmond J. Donlan of West Roxbury yesterday.

The University, Donlan predicted, would not figure prominently in the committee's investigations. "The young men at Harvard are quite adult and do not imitate the student excesses of other colleges," he stated.

Donlan's proposal was motivated by the death of an M.I.T. freshman in the course of fraternity initiations last week.
