Al Capp Will Emcee Smoker Stage Show; Godfrey Not Coming

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Cartoonist Al Capp will be master of ceremonies at the Freshman Smoker in a show also featuring comedian Jerry Alsh and four to six student groups, Charles Sailstad, Chairman of the Smoker Committee said last night. The Smoker will take place on Feb. 27 in Sanders and Memorial Hall.

Arthur Godfrey, who was previously billed to head the list of entertainers was unable to appear because of conflicting engagements, Sailstad said.

The entertainment part of the Smoker will be staged in Sanders Theatre, after which freshmen will retire to Memorial Hall for refreshments and jazz. Sailstad said various "souvenirs" will be handed out in the course of the evening, but would not disclose what these objects will be.
