To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
While the length of this year's Christmas vacation, from December 22 through January 6, is gratifying, its timing is not. Students who must remain through Friday because of a required ROTC class often have difficulty in making reservations on weekend-crowded transportation facilities. Section men hold forth to such diminished numbers at the end of the week that the students who do remain are sorry they did. With the holiday beginning so late the administration is only inviting students to leave early. Why not make their departure legal? Henry deL. Smythe '57
