The author of the recent editorial which says that prerequisites for "Middle Group" French courses discriminate against candidates for the degree in History and Literature seems to have missed page 256, note 7, of the current "Courses of Instruction Offered by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences." The note says explicitly that the prerequisite (in the instance French 20) applies only to concentrators in the Department. Other students consult the instructor to determine whether they should risk the course they want to elect. W. M. Frohock, Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures.
