Crimson Soccer Squad Has Edge Over Lord Jeffs

A rested, yet well-honed Crimson soccer squad takes the field against under-dog Amherst this afternoon at 3 p.m. on the Business School field. The Lord Jeffs are expected to provide merely adequate competition for the confident Crimson eleven.

Coach Bruch Munro plans to stick with his original starting lineup in his second match of the year. The Crimson defeated Tufts Wednesday with little trouble, 3 to 1. Three of Munro's forwards--Grey Hodnett, Hank Holmes, and Robin Magowan--scored in the Jumbo contest.

Nevertheless, Munro intends to maintain his original starters--Holmes at outside left, Charlie MacVeagh at inside left, Hodnett at center forward; Jim Shue at inside right, and Ken McIintosh at outside right.

Don Beaver and Chris Provenson will start at fullback. Tony Oberschall will go at center halfback, while John Felstiner will start at left half and Marshall Schwartz will go at right halfback. Elliot Finkelstein, who looked very good against Tufts, will mind the net.

Versed in Fundamentals

Although Amherst is relatively unknown in soccer play this year, Munro is expecting to meet a solid team, well-versed in the fundamentals--a factor which decides many early-season matches. Confident from their first match, the co-champions of the Ivy League last year are in excellent physical shape and well-prepared for the Amherst match.

Coach Professor Marsh of the Lord Jeffs could not be reached for comment, but Amherst is expected to give the Crimson a contest similar to last year's, in which the locals defeated Amherst, 3 to 1.
