Undefeated Yardling Sextet Defeats Northeastern at Watson Rink, 5-4

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Yardling hockey team maintained its perfect record yesterday afternoon at Watson Rink by edging a Northeastern squad in a close 5-4 decision.

High scorer for the freshmen was right wing Paul Kelley, who tallied once in the first period and went on to net the winning goal at 7:25 of the third. Northeastern scored the first goal of the game. However, the Yardlings caught up as Dave Vietze scored at 4:52 on assist from Dickie Fischer and Tony Marlow. During the remainder of the period Bill Collins and Paul Kelley both tallied to make the score 3 to 1.

During the second period the Yardlings, passing up several good scoring opportunities, failed to tally. The period's only goal was made by Walsh of Northeastern at 10:05.

Third period scoring started off badly for the Crimson, with Northeastern netting two in the first four minutes and gaining a 4 to 3 edge. However Tony Marlow's goal at 4:22, assisted by Dave Vietze, tied up the game. Victory was established for the Yardlings when Paul Kelley slapped in the clincher on a pass from Bill Collins.

Yardling captain George Higginbottom was unable to play in today's game because of a back injury.
