Varsity Tennis Team Will Oppose Brown Today, Princeton Saturday

The varsity tennis team will have its 4-0 league record at slake this weekend when it meets Brown and Princeton in two away matches. The Crimson will play Brown today and the Tigers tomorrow.

The Bears have won four and lost two this year, beating B.U., Holy Cross, Wesleyan and the Quantice Marines, while losing to Williams and Amherst.

Brown suffers from a lack of depth, though the top three men all have good games. In first position, Captain John Houck, who is very steady, was one of the top ranking players in New England last year. George Kirkpatrick and Nat Greene respectively both have aggressive games.

Princeton Second Best

Princeton is perhaps the second best team, behind Yale, in New England this season, and has won six straight matches, the closest being a 5-4 victory over a previously undefeated Swarthmore squad.

At number one Tod Rogers plays a defensive game, relying chiefly on his exceptionally good backhand, while sophomore Dave Sofield at two is a very forceful player with a sharp not game. Sofield is followed by squash star Roger Campbell and Ralph Stuart.

Crimson coach Jack Barnaby will probably use the same line-up against Princeton and Brown that he used against North Carolina Wednesday. Ham Gravem will be at one, followed by Captain Alex Haegler, Conrad Fischer, Brooks Harris, Dan Mayers, Maynard Caufield, and Beu Heckscher, in that order.

The freshman team also has two away matches this weekend, against Brown today and Andover tomorrow.
