Radcliffe ejected the profit-making University Children's Theatre from Agassiz Hall yesterday. By law, the College cannot permit performances or even rehearsals of any show which brings monetary profit to individuals in its buildings without losing its tax-free status, an Annex spokesman said.
This action leaves the Children's Theatre without a theatre building in which to present productions and has already forced the group to move current rehearsals of "Cinderella" to Phillips Brooks House. P.B.H is not classed as an educational building.
The eviction occurred because the co-producers and directors of the Children's Theatre's last production netted $312 apiece on a total of 12 performances. Three performances took place in Agassiz brought 26 members of the company $3025 each.
These earnings were made without paying an admissions tax on the tickets sold, but a children's Theatre representatives filled out tax forms yesterday with Radcliffe Dean off Residence Emily B. Lacey '49 to cover this omission.
