The varsity hockey team will face the University of Michigan in the opening game of the NCAA Championship Tourney, Thursday at 10:15 p.m. (EST).
The other Western representative, Colorado College, will play St. Lawrence in the second semi-final match on Friday night. The winners of these two games will meet Saturday night for the national title while the losers will play Saturday afternoon in the consolation game.
The CRIMSON will send a representative with the varsity to Colorado Springs tomorrow to cover the Championship Tourney.
In its final heavy workout before the trip to Colorado Springs tomorrow morning, the varsity held a lengthy scrimmage with the Boston Bruins yesterday before a crowd of 2,000 at the Watson Memorial Rink.
After an extended period of play with each team exchanging defensemen, the Crimson faced the Bruins in a period of regular scrimmage and held them to a single goal.
While "Sugar Jim" Henry was blanking the varsity, his two college counterparts, Charlie Flynn and Jim Bailey, were the Crimson's defensive standouts.
The varsity's high-scoring center, Bill Cleary, was named yesterday as Ney England's outstanding college player in a poll of sportswriters and radio men. With teammate Doug Manchester, Cleary was unanimously selected as center on the All New England team last weekend.
Cleary, who tied the 84-point NCAA record set in 1949, will have his last two chances to set a new scoring mark during this week's tourney.
