Band Closes Drive For Student Dimes

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University Band has closed it four week drive for dimes to finance its new bass drum, only $100 short of the $800 needed to pay for the drum.

In appreciation of the "heartening" student support, Arnold H. Aronson '56, president, announced that the Band will present a free open air concert in the Yard May 1, the Sunday of the revised All-College Weekend.

Since the drum has been ordered for delivery by May 1, Aronson said that the remaining $100 will be obtained by then either from alumni or Band funds.

He hoped that Alumni Bulletin publicity would draw the balance, though he said that alumni contributions thus far have not been substantial. "We could ask some friends of the Band to make up the difference, but we hope we can avoid that by voluntary donations," he added.

Among student donations, Lowell House was the top contributor, with more than $100. The Freshman Union ranked second.
