Denied Winter Campus Housing, International Students Scramble to Find Alternative Options
A new method for distributing football tickets will probably be used next year, ticket manager Frank O. Lunden said yesterday while trying to straighten out the biggest ticket mix-up of the season. He did not elaborate, and Thomas D. Bolles, Director of Athletics, could not be reached for comment last night.
Approximately 130 undergraduate applications for Yale tickets have been rejected by the ticket office, far above the weekly average of about 20 rejections.
Auditors Deny Substitute Blanks
This increase mainly seems due to the fact that many students used Dartmouth ticket application blanks, replacing the "Dartmouth" with "Yale," when their house ran out of the nearly-identical Yale blanks. This was most common in Lowell House.
University officials would not accept these blanks on the advice of auditors, Lunden said. He did not comment further.
Men who used the Dartmouth form not only lost their class preference seats, but also have to pay the full $5 for a student ticket, losing the special $3 student reduction.
One senior complained last night that he and his roommate, another senior, applied for Yale seats together, both using Dartmouth forms. His roommate received two seats high up on the fifty for $7 when his blank successfully got by the distributor. He was not so lucky, and had to pay $10 for two seats only six rows up from the field and near the goal line.
