Sophomore passer John Hennessey acted as Cornell's quarterback Bill DeGraaf yesterday as the varsity football team went through a light scrimmage at Soldiers Field.
Hennessey, the quarterback on the junior varsity squad, led his team through a sequence of Cornell winged-T plays. Coach Lloyd Jordan had his varsity alternates on offense and defense against the junior varsity. The second and third teams carried the brunt of the work with sophomore Walt Stahura running most of the tailback plays.
Against Cornell Saturday, the Crimson will have to stop the pin-point passing of DeGraaf, one of the top quarterbacks in the Ivy League. In addition to DeGraaf, the Big Red 'possesses a number of other excellent backs, led by Dick Jackson, Dick Meade, Art Boland, and Bob McAniff.
