A host of shiny IBM machines awaits the University's beleaguered statisticians.

Guy H. Orcutt, associate professor of Economics, announced yesterday that a statistics laboratory will open shortly in the basement of Littauer.

Before, students using statistics in thesis had to use IBM machines in the various departments, all decentralized.

The new laboratory will cost $14,000 and will be available to students in all departments. Orcutt said that it is designed primarily for graduate students or junior faculty members but undergraduates will also be allowed to use the machines.
