Hollis, with six-four center Charles Mallone scoring 28 points, won a hard-fought double overtime 39-36 contest from Thayer North last night. The victory gave Hollis the championship of the first half of the freshman intramural basketball program.
Thayer was unable to cope with Mallone's height, and consistently fouled in a vain attempt to stop him.
In yesterday's House intramural games, Leverett won a B League contest from Dunster, 50 to 43, to tie the Funsters for second place. Dudley and Eliot split, with the Commuters winning the A League game, 38 to 30, and the Elephants taking the B League match by 41 to 26.
In another B League contest, Kirkland won from Winthrop, 43 to 34.
