Varsity Eleven Drills With Varied Offense

Evidently satisfied for the time being with his passing and pass defense workout on Tuesday, varsity football coach Lloyd Jordan divided his backfield candidates into a sophomore and a senior group yesterday and began mixing up his offensive attack.

With Jerry Marsh at quarterback and fullback Bob Cowles plunging through the line, the senior backfield, including Joe Conzelman at tailback and Frank White at wingback, moved rapidly down the field against a J.V. defense.

Fullback Tony Gianelly led the sophomore backfield over the same J.V. defense with quarterback Phil Haughey occasionally connecting with a sharp pass to wing back John Simourian. Jim Joslin was at tailback.

On the defense, the varsity worked against the J.V.'s T and split T formations.
